C20 Coming Soon: White Wolf Publishing Continues to Celebrate its 20 Year Anniversaries

Major news on the World of Darkness front! The Kickstarter for the 20th Anniversary special of Changeling the Dreaming (known as C20) has reached its goal and production will be underway soon. Richard Thomas, the current creative director for White Wolf Publishing, announced on the Kickstarter campaign that they had reached their goal and surveys were now underway on getting the backers their rewards.

For those of you who are unaware, World of Darkness (WoD) is a roleplaying game released by White Wolf Publishing. The game are, arguably, the most popular and prolific games that allow players to take on the role of vampires, werewolves, fae creatures, and so forth. The games have been released since 1991 and continues to remain popular to this day. Unlike its sister games that focus on the more darker gothic aesthetic, Changeling the Dreaming is a much more colorful adventure. It features fairy creatures of ancient lore that go by colorful names like knockers, trolls, sidhe, and so forth. The game is much more about fighting off the banality of life and remaining in tune with your fae side as you exist in the real world.

The 20th Anniversary editions of these iconic roleplaying games have been released over the past couple of years. After seeing that World of Darkness’ flagship game, Vampire the Masquerade received its V20 release, it was a foregone conclusion that the other flagship games in the trifecta, Werewolf the Apocalypse and Mage the Ascension would also be receiving a 20th Anniversary edition. However, there was much speculation on whether or not WoD would be releasing 20th anniversaries for their lesser games with strong cult followings. While Changeling and other games like Hunter the Reckoning and Demon the Fallen have a small yet fervent fanbase, a 20th anniversary special was not exactly guaranteed. With the success of C20, further Kickstarters become a much more likely proposition.
